The second Bangladesh Investment Summit will be held on 4th September at Singapore’s Four Seasons Hotel to examine the trade and investment opportunities for asset managers and corporations in the country’s rapidly expanding economy.
“The summit will address some of the most pertinent issues for companies planning to invest in the country and for Bangladeshi companies looking to raise funds in Asia. At the same time it will present the investment case for Bangladesh and the routes for international investor,” a press release by the organisers said.
The Prime Minister’s International Affairs advisor Gowher Rizvi will make the first presentation “Bangladesh beckons: The new narrative”.
Top business leaders of Bangladesh will join potential investors, bankers and global consultants to deliberate on opportunities that Bangladesh presents.
“Bangladesh’s economy has grown by more than 6% a year, external trade has increased four-fold and the poverty level has halved during the past decade. Policy makers face many challenges in order to achieve the ambitions set out in the country’s Vision 2021, of raising the growth trajectory, further improving social welfare and developing higher-value industries, while maintaining macroeconomic stability,” says the press release by the organisers.
Following Rizvi’s presentation, a high power panel will discuss Bangladesh’s near-term outlook, key risks to the forecasts, fiscal policy, interest rate and exchange rate policy, anchoring monetary and fiscal prudence, financial sector reforms: strengthening financial stability and governance and on measures to enhance the regulatory environment to attract investment.
Other related issues will be discussed in subsequent sessions.
Former foreign secretary and chief of the Bangladesh Enterprise Institute Farooq Sobhan will deliver the keynote address on ” Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh: Look East”.
