Police in Bahrain have arrested two Bangladeshis suspected of murdering a fellow countryman in capital Manama.
Bahraini English language ‘Gulf Daily News’ reported on Wednesday that the two men were taken into custody on Tuesday in this sensational case which has become known in the country as “suitcase murder”.
Police claimed the two had confessed to killing the victim over financial disputes.
They reportedly told police that they abducted the man, killed him and stuffed him inside a suitcase, which they dumped at an under-construction housing project in Hamad Town, a northern city in Bahrain.
The body was discovered by a passer-by on Sunday – more than a month after he was killed.
This is the second time a body has been found stuffed inside a suitcase in Bahrain.
The remains of Bangladeshi Taher Antaz, 31, were found in a rubbish bin in Manama last April.
Antaz was tied up, gagged and hung from a ceiling fan at an apartment in Ras Ruman. His alleged killers, also Bangladeshi, are being tried for premeditated murder.
