Some of the 12 retired AFD officers had their family members with them when they were going to meet the BNP chief, who has been staying at her office on Road No. 86, Gulshan-2 since January 3.
When the group reached at the end of Road No. 88 around 12:30pm, police stopped them.
Police turned down their repeated request to allow them to meet Khaleda.
At one stage, Squadron Leader (retd) Rezaur Rahman and Group Caption (retd) Wahed Uddin requested the policemen to at least make sure that the BNP chief got the foods which they had brought for her.
“Like the BNP chairperson, we are also the members of armed forces family. You (police official) at least take measures so that the foods can be reached to her if you do not allow us to enter her office,” an eyewitness told The Daily Star quoting Rezaur as saying.
But police won’t allow that too.
After waiting there for several minutes, they left the place.
Earlier on February 19, police barred a group of female leaders of BNP to take food for the BNP chief. Police detained six of the female leaders but released them a few hours later.
During the last week, police also detained noted singer Baby Nazneen for around one hour after her repeated requests to allow her to enter Khaleda’s office with food.
