Searching a Biman flight at ShahjalalInternationalAirport in the capital, customs officials on Wednesday seized 1,065 gold bars weighting around 116 kilograms.
The gold would be worth around Tk 54 crore, said Kamrul Hassan, assistant commissioner (preventive) of airport customs.
On information, the customs officials searched a luggage at the luggage chamber of a Bangladesh aircraft around 2:45pm and found the gold bars, he said.
The gold bars were carried in Dhaka-Kathmandu BG-702 flight, the customs official added.
Earlier on Tuesday, a man was arrested with 146 gold bars weighing 17 kilograms at ShahAmanatInternationalAirport in Chittagong.
