At least 11 persons have been killed as a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Barisal-Dhaka highway on Friday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Mamun Akon, Yunus Akon, Jahangir Hossain, Nil Sharif, Matiur Rahman, Selim Dacua, Harun Mia, Mojammel Hossain, Sohag, Munni Begum and Jewel Mia.
Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Wazirpur police station, confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the deaths.
“Jahangir Hossain died on the spot while 10 others died at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital,” said the OC.
Twenty others including local people and bus passengers were also injured in the accident.
The accident occurred as the bus plunged into a roadside ditch after its driver had lost control over the steering around 5:50pm.
