Vested quarter using Bangabandhu’s name for practicing anarchism: Dr Kamal

Eminent jurist Dr Kamal Hossain on Friday said a vested quarter is using the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for practicing anarchism in Bangladesh.

“Bangabandhu wouldn’t have tolerated such activities had he been alive today,” he told a discussion marking the ‘National Mourning Day’ organised by Gono Forum at Jatiya Press Club.

Dr Kamal, also the president of Gono Forum, said extortionists these days claim themselves as the successors of Bangabandhu which is not even close to the fact.

Entitling these people as ‘verbal supporters of Awami League’, he said they are extortionists and tender manipulators in real life, and are 100 percent against the norm of Bangladesh and Bangabandhu.

Mentioning that there is no debate on calling Bangabandhu the Father of the Nation, the constitution expert said the genuine followers of Bangabandhu should come forward to implement the ideals of the founder of the nation.

He said, “The August 15 made us face a great loss, we lost our leader on that day. The followers of Bangabandhu were victorious warriors, he dreamt of making the people of Bangladesh civilized.”

Gono Forum general secretary Mostofa Ahsan Montu, former Awami League organising secretary Sultan Monsur Ahmed and Forward Party convener Altaf Hossain also spoke at the programme.
