Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took a step forward in preparing for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour as the board is going to collect players’ samples for coronavirus test from their homes from September 18, informed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations chairman Akram Khan after a meeting at the BCB headquarters today. Akram also informed that the camp for the Sri Lanka tour will begin from September 21.

“On September 18, players’ samples [for coronavirus test] will be collected from their homes. We are thinking of moving the players to a hotel on September 20. The camp for the Sri Lanka tour will begin on September 21. We will practice here for a while before leaving the country for Sri Lanka,” said Akram.

According to Akram, the selectors are expected to announce a squad of 22 players for the tour by September 10 to 15. He also added that the Tigers coaching staff including head coach Russell Domingo is expected to join the side and will be quarantined before starting.

Earlier, BCB had mentioned September 23 as the tentative date for players’ departure. Since the camp will start on September 21, the date of departure has now been pushed back. Akram however did not confirm the exact date of departure.

Bangladesh are scheduled to play a three-Test series against Sri Lanka starting from October 24 with the itinerary of a potential T20I series yet to be confirmed.
