“Shikawr” is a musical project about a journey back home, about coming back to all that we can’t leave behind but we strangely do, about a city lost and then found again, about faces lost and never found, and things in between.

This project started as a blog of lyrics, few of which became songs, by London-based lyricist-composer Saptarshi Routh. Routh makes his comeback through this album after more than a decade-long hiatus,.

“Shikawr” is also Sahana Bajpaie’s first major contemporary Bengali music album, and also first since 2008. Out of the seven songs, “Bari Kothay,” “Chawl Ekdin,” “Shikawr,” and “Runway” have   been sung solo by her. There is also a duet with Samantak Sinha, and the other two songs have been sung by Gorki Mukherjee.

Samantak Sinha has designed the entire soundscape of the album. It has been recorded live with acoustic instruments giving it a distinctive feel.

The album CD has released in India by Cozmik Harmony, while distribution here in Bangladesh has been handled by ME Label. Bangladeshi listeners can purchase the album online at Shurjorajjo. The album is also available across a range of digital channels including iTunes, Amazon MP3, Google Play, CD Baby and Spotify.
