Resist BNP-Jamaat’s destructive acts: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attends a programme at Suhrawardi Udyan in the capital on Monday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday urged the countrymen to build up united resistance against any violent activities by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Hasina, also the president of ruling Awami League, said the trial of war criminals must be held in the soil of the country as the people gave this mandate to her party in 2008 general election.

“We will build strong resistance together with the people so that they do not get any scope to foil the trial of war criminals,” she said while inaugurating the month-long programme to celebrate the National Victory Day at Suhrawardi Udyan in the capital.

Addressing the programme, Hasina questioned why BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia declared anti-government movement in the month of victory.

“Didn’t she want the victory of Bangladesh? Was she unhappy at that? Is her movement just to save the defeated forces of 1971?” Hasina questioned.

AL General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam and presidium member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.
