Rana leaves hospital after check-up

Sohel Rana was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night, but he was released after half an hour.

Physicians found no problem after he was taken there at around 11:30pm.

Dr Rabiul Islam of the Emergency Department told bdnews24.com that Rana was sent to the Cardiology Department after he complained of chest pain. “But no problem has been detected in the medical check-up.”

Later, he underwent check-up at the general ward.

The police officials who brought the self-claimed leader of the ruling Awami League’s youth front Juba League declined talking to journalists.

He was transferred to the BIRDEM Hospital at around 12:15am on Thursday.

Birdem’s emergency medical officer told bdnews24.com they attended to him for 20 minutes and “there was nothing serious to admit him.”

“DMCH referred him here to check his heart condition as he complained of chest pain and there was a tendency of vomiting,” the medical officer said,

He added that they also checked his blood sugar level and gave medication.

RAB arrested Savar building owner in Benapole on Sunday – four days after the worst-ever industrial disaster in the country’s history as he was visibly fleeing the country to evade justice.

After the arrest, Mokhlesur Rahman, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), had told reporters that Rana was the responsible for the dreadful incident since he forced the employees into work in the building ignoring warnings.

But Rana claimed at a press conference at RAB headquarters in Dhaka that the owners of the five readymade garment factories housed in his ill-constructed building forced him to allow work in the building saying they would face huge loss and shipments would be cancelled if the factories were closed even for a day.

Police have remanded Rana for 15 days for interrogation in two cases – one filed for violating the building code, and the other for loss of lives and damages.
