Bangladesh Qaumi Madrasah Education Commission on Saturday submitted the Qaumi Madrasah Education Policy 2012 to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her government’s consideration.
A three-member, team led by its cochairman Allama Farid Uddin Masud, formally submitted the policy to the Prime Minister at her official residence Ganobhaban.
Commission’s member secretary Allama Mufti Ruhul Amin and administrative officer M Nazmul Huq were present on the occasion.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and Education Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and Awami League’s Religious Affairs Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah were also present.
Receiving the report, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested the Ulema-Mashayekh of the country to be vocal against Jamaat and Shibir, who are using Islam for making their political gains.
She also said Jamaat-Shibir people have destroyed the sanctity of holy mosques by using it for attack on innocent people and torching and vandalising vehicles and public property.
Hasina stressed the need for religious education alongside general education so that children could be groomed up in the light of moral education.
The government formed the 17-member Bangladesh Qaumi Madrasah Education Commission on April 15, 2012 with Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi as its chairman.
