PM seeks more Saudi cooperation in eliminating poverty

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sought greater cooperation from Saudi Arabia in the government’s development efforts to make Bangladesh fully free from poverty and turn it into a developed and prosperous country.

The Prime Minister sought the support when a seven-member delegation of Saudi Arabia, led by Director of the General Intelligence Presidency of the Kingdom Khalid Bin Ali Al Humaydan, met her at her official residence Ganobhaban on Monday.

After the meeting, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters about the meeting.

He said Sheikh Hasina termed Saudi Arabia as a brotherly country and said the relations between the two countries are excellent.

Sheikh Hasina informed the delegates that the government has been working to establish Bangladesh as a poverty-free country.

Lauding the role of expatriate Bangladeshis working in the Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister said they are contributing to the development of both the countries.

Sheikh Hasina through the head of delegation and Director of the General Intelligence Presidency conveyed her best wishes to the Custodian of two Holy Mosques and King of Saudi Arabia Salman Bin Abdulaziz.

During the meeting, Khalid Bin Ali Al Humaydan appreciated Bangladesh’s stunning successes in socio-economic development under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Khalid informed the Bangladesh premier that the cooperation between Bangladesh and the Saudi Arabia will enhance further in various fields under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.

Khalid said huge expatriate Bangladeshis are working in Saudi Arabia and they are very hard working.

Terming Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia as friendly countries, the Director of the General Intelligence Presidency stressed the need for protecting religion Islam.

Khalid also conveyed the best wishes of the Saudi King and Crown Prince to the Prime Minister.

PMO Secretary Suraiya Begum, PM’s Military Secretary Major General Mia Md Jainul Abedin and Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah HM Al-Mutairi were present on the occasion.
