Says election is the only way to change the government

Communication Minister Obaidul Quader has said the government was embarrassed by not having representation from a big party like the BNP in the parliament.

He made the statement while inaugurating high reservoirs and water refineries, projects costing Tk13 crore and Tk75 lakh respectively, in Lakshmipur Municipality on Friday afternoon.

Suggesting that the BNP made the wrong decision when opting to not take part in the tenth parliamentary elections, he said: “The government cannot be changed by creating violence and cutting roads and trees. People’s votes are necessary to change the government.

“There is no alternative to elections as it is the only way to change the government,” he said.

“We have to refine our politics the same way as we refine arsenic contaminated water,” he added.
