No solution without dialogue: B Chy

Former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Tuesday said dialogue is the first step to end political unrest in any country.
He said this while addressing a discussion on freedom of journalism, endangered humanity and reestablishment of democracy as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Mofosshal Sangbadik Foundation orgainsed the discussion at the National Press Club in the capital.
“Even Bangabandhu sat for a dialogue before declaring war. Right now the country isn’t leaning towards war. Then why don’t they sit for a dialogue?” he posed a question.
The former president also said that the parliamentary election on 5 January made it obvious that democracy in the country was at stake.
Demanding midterm parliamentary elections, B Chowdhury said the ongoing movement of BNP-led 20-party alliance will come to an end if the government holds midterm polls.
Speakers at the discussion slammed police attack on Prothom Alo Bauphal correspondent Mizanur Rahman.
Kamal Uddin, president of Bangladesh Mofosshal Sangbadik Foundation, presided over the discussion while Dhaka Union of Journalists president Abdul Hai Sikdar and educationist Alamgir Kabir also spoke.
