Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will form her new Cabinet taking the oath of office on Sunday for the second consecutive term following her Awami League’s massive victory in the much-talked-about election to the 10th parliament.
The oath taking ceremony of the Prime Minister and her Cabinet will be held at 3.30 pm at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban.
“We’ve completed all the preparations for holding the function,” Cabinet Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told UNB on Saturday.
Officials at the Cabinet Division said they have invited some 1,000 guests to attend the oath-taking ceremony.
President Abdul Hamid will administer the oath while the cabinet secretary will moderate the event.
Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina formed her outgoing government on January 6, 2009 following the landslide victory of her party in the ninth parliamentary polls held on December 29, 2008.
On Thursday, President invited Awami League President Sheikh Hasina to form government as Awami League Parliamentary Party (ALPP) picked her as the leader of the House at a meeting after the new MPs were sworn on the same day.
On Wednesday, the Election Commission published the results of 290 constituencies of the elections through a gazette notification.
A total of 292 candidates have been elected unofficially.
Of the 292 constituencies, ruling Awami League won 232 parliamentary seats, while HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party 33 seats, Workers Party six, Jasad five, Jatiya Party-JP, Tarikat Federation and BNF one each and independent candidates 13.
The voting was held in 147 constituencies on January 5 as the candidates for remaining 153 constituencies were elected unopposed in the 10th parliamentary elections, which was boycotted by the main opposition BNP.
The Cabinet Secretary at a press briefing later at night said a gazette notification will be published on Sunday after the oath taking of the Prime Minister, ministers and state ministers, followed by their respective ministerial portfolios as the Prime Minister has already chalked out the distribution of portfolios.
The Cabinet Secretary further said the Prime Minister will also appoint her advisers afresh.
Meanwhile, the President has approved the list of the Cabinet members as recommended by the Prime Minister, he added.
