Mushfiq blasts ‘insane’ Asif

Mushfiqur Rahim

Barisal Bulls skipper Mushfiqur Rahim on Tuesday lambasted on their brand ambassador, singer Asif Akbar, for his allegation that Bulls players were involved in match fixing in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.
Asif on Monday claimed in facebook post that at least some of the players of Bulls are involved in fixing.
He had questioned Bulls batsmen’s attitude during the 17, 18, 19 and 20 th over accusing them of cheating. He however claimed that he did not have any evidence and urged the Bangladesh Cricket Board and its Anti Corruption Unit to look into the matter.
Mushfiq reacted sharply when his attention was drawn regarding the status.
‘When I heard it and saw, I could not believe my eyes,’ Mushfiq said after his side’s match against Comilla Victorians.’
‘He is nearly a celebrity in our country and an educated man. Words like these from him are disgusting and shameful.
‘I will surely ask him when he felt like it and who are the local and foreign players involved in it.
‘I am not sure whether he was in his senses or not while writing it…only insane people can write this,’
Asif refused to make any comment, when contracted.
‘Perhaps he was upset because of the defeat and due to that reacted in this manner,’ he said.
The BPL, modelled on the glitzy and lucrative Indian Cricket League, is blighted by a match-fixing scandal involving players and team owners since its inception.
