Jubo League is the youth front of ruling Awami League.

When asked about this, professor Mijanur told Prothom Alo on Friday night that he will step down from the post of JnU’s VC if he is asked to take the charge of Jubo League’s chairman post.

Despite being JnU’s VC, he is still No. 1 presidium member of Jubo League and supposed to take the charge of the organisation’s leadership in absence of its chairman Omar Faruk, said Mijanur.

Several Jubo League leaders have recently been found involved in various wrongdoings including illegal casino business.

Saying that Jubo League has been going through an image crisis recently, Mijanur said he will eagerly take the post of Jubo League chairman if prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina selects him for the post and try to brighten the image of the organisation.

Asked if he will vie for the post in the upcoming council of Jubo League, VC Mijanur said he will not seek any post willingly.

If Sheikh Hasina chooses him for the post, he will readily give up the VC post and join Jubo League, he confirmed.
