Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Saturday said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will be put on trial after flawless preparations and properly following the legal procedures.
“A quarter is out for the hurried trial of Jamaat with a motive to have it out through legal loopholes,” he said while addressing the council of Dhaka Bar unit of Awami Ainjibi Parishad (AAP) at its auditorium here as the chief guest.
Also the advisory council member of the ruling Awami League, Amu called upon the lawyers to play a united role as ‘conscience of the nation’ upholding the rule of law in the country.
The Industries Minister said those political cliques had conspired to thwart democracy and the rule of law through killing Bangabandhu in 1975, the same force has turned active now again. “Their conspiracy is not against any person, party or government, it is rather against the country’s independence and sovereignty,” he added.
Amu urged all, including those believe in the spirit of the Liberation War, to resist the evil forces.
The council, presided over by AAP Dhaka Bar unit president Sheikh Hemayet Hossain, the function was addressed, among others, by former Supreme Court Bar Association president (SCBA) barrister M Amir-Ul Islam, Awami League advisory council member Syed Rezaur Rahman, AAP general secretary Abdullah Abu, former Dhaka Bar Association presidents Kazi Najibullah Hiru and Sarder M Suruzzaman and its former sectary Momtajuddin Mehdi and International Crimes Tribunal prosecutor Abdur Rahman Hawlader.
Law Minister advocate Anisul Huq and Food Minister advocate Quamrul Islam were present as special guests.
AAP president and AL presidium member advocate Shahara Khatun inaugurated the council.
Speaking the occasion, Law Minister Anisul Huq said those who are now vocal over the trial of the 1971 war criminals, they were never vocal about the trial of Bangabandhu killing.
The trial of Bangabandhu was accomplished in compliance with the law and its prescribed rules, he said adding, “Similarly, Jamaat will be put on trial following the provisions of law,” he added.
Food Minister Quamrul Islam said there is no question of government’s entente with Jamaat and urged all concerned not to smear confusion in this regard.
