Govt asks US to review state dept report on Bangladesh

Bangladesh has requested the United States state department to review its report on Bangladesh on violation of human rights.
Information minister Hasanul Huq Inu made the request at a news conference at Bangladesh Secretariat claiming that the report was not prepared on accurate information and it require further scrutiny.
He said socio-economic and political reality of Bangladesh was not properly reflected in the report.
On extrajudicial killings, the minister claimed, ‘the government does not support extra-judicial killings.’
As newsmen insisted for a concrete answer on does extra-judicial killing exist or not, the minister said if any allegation comes, the government investigates the allegations and takes action against people responsible as per investigation.
He claimed 800 plus members of Rapid Action Battalion faced legal action for involvement in extra-legal activities. He did not mention the timeframe, when the action was taken.
