Don’t stage drama in dialogue’s name, BNP to govt

News - Don’t stage drama in dialogue’s name, BNP to govt
Reiterating BNP’s demand for restoration of the caretaker government system, BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah on Thursday urged the government not to stage drama in the name of dialogue.
“If you (govt) truly want dialogue, don’t stage drama in the name of dialogue. Place your clear proposal on how the nonparty caretaker government system will be restored. Don’t waste time as the nation doesn’t have enough time over it,” he said.
The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a human-chain programme organised by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddha Dal in front of the National Press Club.
They arranged the programme demanding withdrawal of the ‘false’ cases filed against BNP’s central leaders and activists, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman and their unconditional release.
Urging Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina to save the country from confrontation, Rafiqul Islam said, “Immediately restore the caretaker government system and hold the next parliamentary polls under a non-party caretaker government system, or else, you (govt) will be forced out.”
Rafiqul Islam Miah alleged that the government has arrested the BNP leaders and activists and filed false cases against them as the Prime Minister was conspiring to annihilate BNP.
“She (PM) wants to stay in power by using the judiciary, police and administration. But the people of the country won’t allow that.”
