Court orders confiscation of Nur’s immovable property

 A local court on Wednesday ordered for confiscating immovable property of Narayanganj City Corporation councillor Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the seven-murder case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mahiuddin passed the order in the evening following a petition filed by Detective Branch of police Inspector Mamunur Rashid, also the investigation officer of the case.

District court Inspector Habibur Rahman confirmed the court order.

Police will launch a drive on Thursday to comply with the court order, said police sources.

Meanwhile, a team of Criminal Investigation Department of Police conducted a drive at the house of Siddhirganj thana Jubo League president Matiur Rahman Mati, a close aide of Shamim Osman, on Wednesday in connection with the seven murders.

A CID team, led by assistant police super of Narayanganj Zone Ehsanuddin Chowdhury, conducted the drive in the evening. However, Mati was not at the house during the drive.

CID conducted the drive to arrest Mati, Ehsan told reporters adding that they would launch more drives at the house other suspects.

Besides, the district law and order committee found satisfactory the efforts and sincerity of the police administration in the investigation into the seven murders although there is no visible progress in this regard after 17 days into the incident.

The committee came up with the remarks at its meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s office at noon.

After the meeting, DC Anisur Rahman Miah said it seemed from the discussion at the meeting that police are moving in a right direction.

He also said they requested the police super and the investigation of the case to arrest the killers after proper investigation.

Asked about the arrest of Hasmat Ali Hasu who was reportedly held in Jessore, the DC said they know nothing about the arrest of Hasu and the district law and order committee was not informed over the arrest.

Hasu is the number 3 accused in the murder case filed by Selina Islam, wife of slain panel mayor Nazrul Islam.

Superintendent of police Dr Khandaker Muhid Uddin and other senior police officers were present at the meeting.
