BNP picks Monirul for Comilla mayoral polls

Former Comilla City Corporation mayor Monirul Haque Sakku got the Bangladesh Nationalist Party ticket to contest the upcoming mayoral election.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia took the decision after a meeting with the senior leaders of the party at her Gulshan office in Dhaka on Saturday night, said Sayrul Kabir Khan, media wing member of the BNP chief.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was, among others, present at the meeting.

On February 20, the Election Commission announced to hold the election of Comilla City Corporation on March 30.

The EC also fixed March 2 for submitting the nomination papers while the candidates can withdraw their nominations till March 14.
