Bangladesh student killed in US

Shihab Mamun, 22, was a student of Palm Beach State College.

His family members live in Arizona.

Mamun hailed from Netrokona.

He was killed inside a store owned by a Bangladesh expatriate called ‘Chevron Convenience Store’ on May 30.

From the CCTV footage it was found that a young black man entered into the store.

Mamun handed him all money from the cash box.

But the assailant did not take any money and fired at Mamun instead, said the store-owner Md Nayeem.

“It seems that the young man came to kill Mamun”, he said.

Nayeem said Mamun worked at his store during the night shift.

Police have asked locals to provide information about the killer.

Panic gripped expatriate Bangladeshis after the murder.

This is not a first incident that Bangladeshis have been killed by miscreants.

Police have failed to arrest those responsible for the killing, ‘Zahir’, an expatriate Bangladeshi said.

Miscreants usually attack gas station-cum convenience store where 90 Bangladeshis are employed at night, he said.

He insisted on night police patrol to cover these stores for security of the workers.

Shihab’s funeral prayers were held in US on Tuesday.

He would be buried at his ancestral home in Netrokona, relatives said.
