Hasina ranks 59th on the list published on Tuesday.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel topped the list with former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton as the second powerful woman.

Forbes said Hasina’s government oversaw the execution of war criminal Abdul Quader Molla in 2013 for his atrocities during the 1971 Liberation War against Pakistan.

It also noted that the daughter of Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had been the leader of the Awami League since 1981.
