A six-hour token-hunger strike planned by president of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury will be observed in the city on Saturday, demanding talks between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Khaleda Zia to resolve the ongoing political crisis, reports United News of Bangladesh.
The strike will begin at 11:00 am at the BDB’s Kuril office in the city, said a pres release on Thursday.
Earlier at a press conference on January 25, B Chowdhury, also a former President, announced to observe the hunger strike together with people from different professions if the two top leaders of the country do not sit in talks by seven days to break the political deadlock.
On February 2, the BDB chief again requested the chiefs of Awami League and BNP to engage in dialogue.
As his call for the talks went unheeded, B Chowdhury urged the leaders and activists of patriotic political parties and organisations to join the progarmme.
B Chowdhury, BDB secretary general Major (retd) Abdul Mannan and leaders and different political and social organisations will join the programme.
