AL man killed in triangular clash in Faridpur

An activist of Awami League was killed and 50 others injured in a triangular clash between the activists of Hefazat-e-Islam, police and Awami League men at Bhanga Chourasta in Bhanga upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Nowsher Ali, 25, an Awami League activist and resident of Gazaria village in the upazila.
Police said the clash ensued when the activists of Awami League and police obstructed a human hauler carrying Hefazat-e-Islam activists on their way to the capital at about 8.00pm to attend the organisation’s scheduled rally at Motijheel.
A chase and counter chase took place among them following an altercation.
Later the activists of Hefazat-e-Islam hurled brick chips targeting police, triggering a clash that left Nowsher Ali dead and 50 others injured.
Police fired six rounds of bullet during the incident.
Later the Hefazat-e-Islami activists sat down there spreading jainamaz (prayer mat).
Police recovered the body and sent it to the upazila health complex.
