Awami League leader Syeda Zohra Tajuddin, wife of the country’s first prime minister Tajuddin Ahmad, died at a hospital in the capital this morning. She was 81.
Zohra, a presidium member of the party, breathed her last at 10:37am at the United Hospital, Simeen Hussain Rimi, lawmaker and the elder daughter of Tajuddin couple, told The Daily Star.
Her namaz-e-janaza will be held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after the Jumma prayers, Rimi said.
In the first week of December, Zohra underwent surgery for her broken hip joint at leading corporate hospital Medicity Medanta in Gurgaon, a satellite city of Delhi in India.
She had a fall at her residence in Dhaka and took admission to the hospital for better treatment.
On December 17, she was brought back to Dhaka and was admitted to the hospital.
She was born in December 24, 1932.
