It writes letter to Khaleda
The Chamber wrote a letter to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia today requesting her either to call the hartal off or keep Dhaka out of its ambit, according a DCCI release.
The DCCI authorities, in its letter, mentioned that a high-profile US trade delegation of over 40 members will participate in the partnership dialogue.
US Under Secretary for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Jose W Fernandez will, among others, attend the dialogue.
The DCCI thinks that the partnership dialogue will have a significant role in solving the RMG sector’s crisis, and the problems in the power and energy sector.
The chamber laid emphasis on holding a free, fair and credible election with the participation of all parties through a fruitful dialogue.
It said the US trade delegation has expressed its interest to improve bilateral trade relations through discussions and the shutdown will impede the process.
“Under the circumstances, the DCCI has requested the BNP chairperson to withdraw the hartal called for Sunday,” it said.
