Waker made CSG, Shameem to lead AFD

The government on Friday made the Armed Forces Division’s incumbent principal staff officer, Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the chief of general staff of Bangladesh Army, while the incumbent 9th Infantry Division general officer commanding, Major General Mizanur Rahman Shameem, will lead the AFD.

An order issued by Bangladesh Army military secretary Major General Khan Firoz Ahmed on Friday also mentioned that the rank of Major General Mizanur Rahman Shameem of 17th Bangladesh Military Academy long course would be promoted to the rank of lieutenant general with the date of assumption of the appointment.

Lieutenant Colonel Abu Hayder Mohammad Rasheluzzaman, the director of the Inter Service Public Relations directorate, declined to comment on the order.

Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman of the 13 BMA long course will replace Lieutenant General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hassan, who will retire on December 31.

Apart from these two significant changes, seven other changes were made, including two promotions of major general ranks and changes of general officer commanding in the ninth, 33rd, 24th and logistic areas.
