The 34th BCS candidates who took part in vandalism during movement for cancellation of quota provision will be excluded during the viva voce phase, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Thursday.
The government has evidence of those who vandalised public properties in the name of protesting quota system in BCS exams, Hasina said.
Images of the vandalism have been provided to the Public Services Commission, which would help the PSC to identify the miscreants, she added.
These persons will not be able to qualify in any job, whether it is government or nongovernment job, the PM said as she was talking to reporters before the start of Awami League working committee meeting at Gono Bhaban Thursday afternoon.
“Those who can vandalise people’s property can in no way be meritorious.”
The quota provision is for the women, ethnic minority and disabled, which is even guaranteed by the constitution of the country, she said.
In a reference to the recent preaching by Hefajat-e Islam leader Allama Ahmed Shafi belittling women, the premier said millions of female garments workers will lose their job if Hefajat can come to state power.
Hefajat-e-Islam is a threat to the empowerment of women in the country, insisted Hasina.
Terrorism and killing in the name of religion will revive again if the BNP-led alliance ever comes to power, the PM said. “It will be a catastrophe for human rights situation in the country.”
She urged all the citizens to rise against these elements.
Talking on war crimes trial, the PM said her government is trying to run the war crimes trial according to its pledges.
All except the BNP is against this trial, she alleged.
Hasina urged the Jamaat-e-Islami to accept the war crimes trial verdicts in line with the constitution of the country.
She also pleaded with Jamaat not to enforce further hartals (shutdown) during the month of Ramadan.
