The United States has congratulated Bangladesh for achieving the status of lower-middle income country.
A message posted on the official Facebook page of the US mission in Dhaka on Thursday, read: “Congratulations to Bangladesh on becoming a lower-middle income country, meeting the World Bank’s requirements!”
Bangladesh and two other countries were upgraded to the lower-middle income category by the World Bank, with Bangladesh’s Gross National Income per capita (GNI) rising from $1,190 to $1,314.
The World Bank, in a press release, made the disclosure on Wednesday.
Lower-middle income countries are those having annual incomes of $1,046 to $4,125.
Each year on July 1, the World Bank revises the income classification of the world’s economies based on estimates of GNI per capita for the previous year.
The World Bank also uses the updated GNI per capita estimates in its operational classification of economies that determines lending eligibility.

Because, lack of true democratic practice can aggravate militant situation. Examples are the most Muslim states. Now CNN reports that IS has expanded in Egypt http://edition.cnn.com/2015/07/02/world/isis-egypt-expanding-reach/index.html Therefore, establishment of true democracy needs immediate attention in Bangladesh.
