A Dhaka Court has granted a four-day remand for each of the eleven “Uranium” trading syndicate members arrested by DB police earlier on Sunday in the capital.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Anwar Sadaat passed the order when DB Inspector Md Robiul Islam produced them before the court with a seven-day remand plea for each of them in the afternoon.

The magistrate passed the remand order rejecting the bail plea filed by the defence counsel.

Earlier, in separate drives, DB police arrested eleven members of a Uranium trading syndicate along with a huge quantity of “Uranium” worth Tk50 crore during the drives in the city.

The arrestees are Moynal Hossain Sagor, 45, Md Humayun Kabir, 48, Md Kaym Choudhury, 54, Md Kayesh Ahmed, 54, Md Khalek, 44, Md Swapan Molla, 45, Md Firoz, 45, Md Mahfuzur Rahman Nasim, 42, Md Aslam Mia, 61, Md Moin Uddin Sarwar Rajon, 35, and Md Tofayel Ahmed Patwari, 48.

The primary investigation found that they targeted rich people and made them aware of the international price of Uranium.

They attracted the buyers by saying that crores will be generated by investing lakhs.

Initially they did not show the Uranium but showed a video. They would show the box containing the Uranium only after the buyer would give Tk50 lakh in cash.

Along with the box there was a catalogue with the following words written on it “URANIUM ATOMIC WEIGHT-222.07 (A).”
