“UK concerned over recent violence between political parties, law enforcement”

The UK is gravely concerned about the recent spate of violence between political parties and law enforcement, particularly after the deaths of BNP activists in Bhola and Narayanganj, said British High Commissioner Robert Chatterton Dickson.

“Engagement with political parties is a key part of our diplomatic presence in Bangladesh,” he said.

The high commissioner met with BNP leaders at the British High Commission today (September 7, 2022), to discuss the current political situation.

“We call on all parties to exercise calm and restraint, choosing dialogue over violence,” he added.
