Rafiur Rabbi, father of murdered Tanvir Mohammad Twaki, will contest in the by-elections in Narayanganj-5 constituency.
“I have decided to contest in the by-polls as an independent candidate. I will buy the nomination paper tomorrow,” Rafiur Rabbi told the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
Narayanganj-5 constituency fell vacant following the death of Jatiya Party lawmaker Nasim Osman on April 30.
The by-elections of Narayanganj-5 constituency will be held on June 26.
Tanvir Mohammad Towki, was found dead by the bank of the Shitalakhya River on March 8 last year, two days after he had disappeared.
Since the death of Twaki, his father Rafiur has been accusing ruling Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman for the killing.
