Denouncing the attacks on minorities over the 10 parliamentary polls, the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has urged the government to effective steps to protect them from such attacks and compensate the victims.
In a statement on Tuesday, TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said a fanatic and non-democratic force has carried out the attacks on minorities and their worship places in Dinajpur, Jossore, Satkhira, Chittagong and other districts in the last few days.
He said the communal forces carried out the attacks on minorities and their worship establishments in a planned way utilising the ongoing polls-related violence, which is the worse example of violation of human rights.
“Such brutalities against minorities are unacceptable attack on secularism, the country’s independence and the sprit to the liberation war,” he said.
Dr Iftekharuzzaman demanded a judicial probe into the recent attacks on minorities and bringing all the culprits involved in the attacks to justice.
