Those sold like cattle are collaborators: Kamal
Jatiya Oikya Front convener Kamal Hossain on Friday said those sold like cattle are collaborators, reports UNB.
“People’s head can’t be bought unlike the goats and cows. Those sold like cows and goats are known as collaborators,” he said without mentioning anybody’s name at an extended meeting of Dhaka city unit of Gono Forum.
A day after Gono Forum’s Sultan Mohammad Mansur took oath as member of parliament violating the party’s decision, party president Kamal Hossain came up with the remarks, according to a party press release.
Mansur, who was elected MP from Moulvibazar-2 contesting the 30-December election as a Gono Forum candidate using BNP’s election symbol ‘sheaf of paddy’, was sworn in on Thursday, prompting Gono Forum and Jatiya Oikya Front to expel him from the party and the alliance.
Earlier in the day, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Mansur belittled himself by joining a parliament which ‘lacks’ people’s representatives.
BNP along with Gono Forum and some other parties joined the 30-December election in alliance under the banner of Jatiya Oikya Front. BNP bagged six seats while Gono Forum two in the election.
At Gono Forum’s meeting held at the party’s Arambagh central office, Kamal also said people want to get rid of ‘misrule’. “The state can’t be run based on falsehood.”
He said there is no scope to deny that people want a healthy politics in the country. “The politics in the past was people-oriented one in the country.”
The Gono Forum president urged the colleagues of his party’s Dhaka city unit to actively work with people identifying the problems they are facing.
“The healthy politics will be visible very soon if we can always stay with people by uniting their strength. Most of the country’s people are in favour of healthy politics. If the practice of such politics goes on, bad politics will be removed from the country forever,” he observed.
