The 15-member India Test squad will
set foot in Dhaka today morning following their two-day preparation camp in Kolkata where they mostly concentrated on the players’ fitness.
The team led by aggressive batsman Virat Kohli is expected to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 9am. Initially team India was scheduled to arrive yesterday but the India High Commission delayed their arrival by a day as major part of the security was busy with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was on a two-day visit to Bangladesh and left the country yesterday evening.
The alteration of arriving plans now mean they have no time to waste as they will be practicing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today afternoon.
The Indian team management had requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board to arrange practice at Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, the venue for the only Test match starting from Wednesday, but was denied as the Bangladesh team had already planned their practice at the venue in the afternoon.
Team India was left with last minute concern after opening batsman Lokesh Rahul was ruled out of the one-off Test with illness. The 23-year-old right handed batsman is suffering from dengue.
