Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the honorary consulates general in Italy to adopt measures to boost trades between the two countries.
The five consulates general of Bangladesh met Hasina at Hotel Carlton Baglioni in Italy on Saturday.
Deputy Press Secretary to the PM, Bijan Lal Dev told reporters after the meeting that Hasina in the meeting pointed out that the two countries could strengthen trade in sectors like apparel, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, leather and leather goods.
She urged consulates general to initiate steps for exchange of business delegations between the two countries, which would attract Italian investments in Bangladesh.
Mentioning about the ongoing political stability, she said, “Bangladesh is now a lucrative place to invest in different sectors.”
The PM expressed satisfaction over the role of consulates general in providing supports and advocacy to Bangladeshi community in Italy.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque, Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy Shahadat Hossain and FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed were present during the meeting.
