Four people have been killed and eighty others were injured when a tornado swept over Faridpur Sadar upazilla on Sunday afternoon. Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Sardar Sarat Ali told the Dhaka Tribune that four workers of Jobaida-Karim jute mills were killed when the roof of machine room made of CI sheet was blown away. Three of them died on the spot and one of the injured succumbed to injuries at the hospital, he added. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. According to eyewitnesses, the tin shed of Jobaida-Karim jute mills, located in Bakhunda village by the side of Faridpur-Barisal highway, collapsed on the workers, leaving three dead on the spot and nearly one hundred injured. The injured were admitted to different hospitals, including Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Around 5,000 employees were working in the mill when at least 40%-45% of the mill’s tin shed was blown away.
