Stocks continued to rise for the last two consecutive days thanks to the higher participation of buoyant investors today.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), surged 53.4 points, or 0.96 per cent, to stand at 5,588.83.
Investors are hopeful about the market as stocks have been in a rising trend for the last few days, said a merchant banker.
Turnover, an important indicator of the stock market, rose 3 per cent to Tk 1,398 crore.
At the DSE, 203 stocks rose, 100 declined and 54 remained unchanged.
Beximco Ltd was the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 148 crore changing hands followed by LankaBangla Finance, National Feed Mills, Robi Axiata and Pioneer Insurance.
SEML Lecture Mutual Fund topped the gainers’ list that rose 10 per cent followed by Metro Spinning, Rupali Bank, Prime Finance First Mutual Fund and Delta Spinners.
Dhaka Insurance shed the most that dropped 7.89 per cent followed by Agrani Insurance, Phoenix Insurance, Sonar Bangla Insurance and Crystal Insurance.
