Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) soared around 40 per cent today to hit a seven-month high of Tk 1,477 crore thanks to the increased participation of general investors.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, rose 40 points, or 0.64 per cent, to 6,300. In the last five working days, the index rose 151 points.
At the premier bourse, 164 stocks advanced, 117 declined and 99 remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, both DS30 and DSES gained 21 points and 7 points respectively.
Fareast Islami Life Insurance topped the gainers’ list today that rose 10 per cent. Orion Infusion, Samata Leather, Metro Spinning Mills, and Union Capital also rose significantly.
First Finance shed mostly that eroded 5 per cent. Kay & Que, Sunlife Insurance, Monno Fabrics, and Intech Ltd also remained in the top losers’ list.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 126 crore changing hands followed by Orion Pharmaceuticals, Delta Life Insurance, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rose today. The CASPI, all share price index of the port city bourse, up 122 points, or 0.66 per cent, to 18,512.
At the CSE, 144 stocks up, 81 down and 83 remained the same.
