Framing of charges for leaking the war crimes verdict of BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury has been postponed for the fifth time.
Farhat Qauder Chowdhury, the death-row convict’s wife, is ill, their lawyers told court on Monday as they pleaded for more time.
Bangladesh Cyber Crimes Tribunal Judge KM Shamsul Alam accepted the plea but said, “The defendants will not be granted any more time after this.”
The hearing has been scheduled for Sept 20.
Detective Branch pressed charges against seven in the case over the leak of the verdict in August last year.
The accused are Farhat Quader Chowdhury, son Hummam Quader Chowdhury, his manager Mahbubul Hasan, his lawyer Fakhrul Islam, Mehedi Hasan, a staff to lawyer Islam and International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) employees Nayan Ali and Faruk Hossain.
Chowdhury’s wife and his son Hummam are on bail, while lawyer Fakhrul Islam, manager Mahbubul Hasan and the ICT staffers are behind the bars. Mehedi Hasan is absconding.
