A shipbreaking worker died after falling from the stairs of a ship at the Sonaichori union of Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram last night.

The accident happened at SN Corporation Yard at Shitolpur area of the union, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

The deceased Liton Pal (28) of Sandwip upazila fell while climbing down the stairs of a ship, Abdullah Al Sakib Mubarrat, deputy inspector general of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, Chattogram told The Daily Star.

“He sustained a severe injury after the fall and was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where he was declared dead at 10:00 pm yesterday,” he said.
