BNP leader Salahuddin has been denied bail from a Shillong court, hours after granting the bail.
A Shillong court in the Indian state of Meghalaya today rejected bail to BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed in a case filed for trespassing.
The First Judicial Court of AL Kharshing passed the order during a hearing on a bail petition filed by her wife Hasina Ahmed, Subrata Acharjee, India bureau chief of Somoy TV, told The Daily Star.
In the petition, Hasina on May 22 prayed to the court to grant Salahuddin bail for taking him abroad for better treatment.
However, the details about the order could not be learnt instantly.
The order comes two days after a magistrate’s court in Shillong asked the authorities to put the BNP leader in judicial custody for 14 days.
Hours after Wednesday’s order, the jail authorities sent Salahuddin to a specialised hospital for medical checks.
The BNP joint secretary was picked up from a house in the city’s Uttara on March 10 allegedly by unidentified men who introduced themselves as detectives.
After remaining missing for around two months, Salahuddin was found in Shillong, the capital of northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya on May 11. He was arrested for entering India without any valid documents.
