Police have busted three dens of Islami Chhatra Shibir at the hilly area of Nunachora-Yakubnagar under Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong and seized firearms, explosives and petrol bombs.
Three Jamaat-Shibir activists were detained during the drive.
Sitakunda police ASP Md Saiful Islam said: “Acting on a tip-off, police conducted an overnight drive at the Nunachora hilly area and unearthed the dens of Shibir activists.”
The seized firearms and ammunition include 70 petrol bombs, 50 crude bombs, 24 rounds of cartridges, four lighter guns, three rocket flyers and several other locally made sharp weapons.
Meanwhile, the DB police detained Chittagong city unit Jamaat-e-Islami acting ameer Md Ahsanullah from Halishahar area in the early hours of Sunday.
