Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took niece Tulip Siddiq’s daughter in her arms soon after reaching London.
She was ecstatic in cradling her youngest granddaughter, Azalea Joy Percy, after reaching her hotel from the airport, the prime minister’s press secretary Ehsanul Karim said.
The prime minister’s motorcade drove to St James’ Court Taj Hotel after her plane landed at the Heathrow Airport at 4pm local time on Sunday.
Tulip and her husband Christian St John Percy were there with the baby girl. Besides, Tulip’s mother, Sheikh Rehana, brother Radwan Mujib Siddiq and the prime minister’s son and ICT Adviser Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy were present with the members of the family.
The girl child was born to Tulip, a Labour Party MP from the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency, at London’s Royal Free Hospital last month.
Hasina, had at that time distributed clothes, cakes and sweets among the boarders of the Anjuman-e-Mafidul Islam Girls’ Hostel in Gendaria to celebrate the new arrival in the family.
Sheikh Hasina has stopped over in London on her way to a three-day official visit to Bulgarian capital Sofia, where she will attend a ‘Global Women Leaders Forum’ meet.
