Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday as the Shawaal Moon has been sighted.
The National Moon Sighting Committee met at 7:30pm to take decision in this regard after reviewing the information of the moon sighting. The meeting was chaired by Religious Affairs Minister Matior Rahaman, who is also the president of the committee.
The state minister gave out the news of the moon sighting via a press conference after the committee had been informed about the moon sighting.
“The Shawal moon has been sighted in the country. This hijri year, the month of Ramadan has ended in 29 days. Eid Mubarak,” the state minister said.
The Middle East and the West celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday as the moon was sighted in that horizon on Thursday.
The main Eid Jamaat will be held at the Jatiya Eidgah at 8:30am.
Khatib of Chittagong Jamiatul Falah Jame Masque Professor Maulana Jalaluddin Al Qaderi will conduct the Eid jamaat. President, justices, cabinet members and diplomats will join the Jamaat. Five Eid Jamaats will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque like previous years.
The Muslim Ummah world over celebrate their biggest festival Eid-ul-Fitr after a month of fasting.
