Pacer Shafiul Islam will join the Bangladesh’s World Cup squad as a replacement for Al-Amin Hossain, who has been sent back home on disciplinary ground.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has approved the replacement, the ICC has confirmed in a press statement.
“Al-Amin has been sent home after breaching team rules and the replacement has been approved as an exceptional circumstance,” the statement issued on Monday said.
The 25-year-old Shafiul has played 52 ODIs in which he has scored 124 runs and taken 58 wickets. His last ODI in Bangladesh colours was against Zimbabwe in Dhaka in November 2014.
Bangladesh are in Pool A in the tournament along with co-hosts Australia and New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka and qualifiers Afghanistan and Scotland.
Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan in their opener by 105 runs while their second match against Australia was washed out.
The Tigers will face Sri Lanka in Melbourne on Thursday.
