The parliamentary standing committee on Labour and Employment Ministry on Sunday recommended extending the ‘inspection sector’ and setting up labour courts in industrial areas.
It also suggested the ministry to take actions against organisations in case of unilateral retrenchment of workers.
The committee made the recommendations at its maiden meeting held at the Parliament Secretariat with its chairman Monnujan Sufian in the chair.
It further recommended the ministry to provide logistic supports to the manpower of the inspection sector as per its requirement, and suggested making the Transport Labour Law-1905 effective.
Activities of various directorates, departments and organisations under the ministry were discussed at the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the Labour and Employment Ministry got approval from the Public Administration Ministry for creating 55 new posts for the ministry.
The committee members Mujibul Haque, Israfil Alam, Anwarul Abedin Khan, Chhobi Biswas, Shirin Akhter, Ruhul Amin, Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and Roksana Yasmin were, among others, present.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Ministry also held its second meeting with its chairman Imran Ahmed presiding.
Development of Hi-tech industry in Bangladesh and Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority Bill 2014 to set up a hi-tech park came up at the meeting for discussions.
