The cabinet committee on law and order has recommended the resolution of all pending sensitive cases within 135 working days through the Speedy Trial Tribunal and the Special Trial Tribunal.
The committee requested the law minister to discuss the issue with the chief justice and take necessary initiative in this regard.
The cabinet committee made the recommendation at a committee meeting chaired by Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu at the home ministry on Thursday.
During the meeting, the committee also fixed a time-frame for the resolution of the cases, which could not be settled with the135 days.
“The tribunals will get 135 more days to resolve those cases.”
The meeting also asked the mobile phone operators to take necessary step in order to prevent extortion through phone calls, adding that the incidents of demanding extortion over mobile phones have been increased.
The committee requested the mobile phone operators not to issue SIM cards to those, who submit fake documents.
The committee also recommended that those who are interested in buying SIM cards will have to submit the necessary documents included national ID cards to the mobile operators.
The mobile phone operators will submit those documents to National Identity Card Authorities for verification. A report will later be given to BTRC.
The mobile operators will later issued the SIM card after getting the final report from BTRC.
Besides, it asked the police department to take effective measures to check overloading and overcrowding of water vessels during eid and puja.
